The Honorable Tanielu Su’a
Director General
Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency

Dear Director General:

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (PIFFA), the people and the Government of the Republic of Palau send their warmest and best wishes and congratulations to PIFFA and applaud its accomplishments over the last thirty years.

Reflecting on the wisdom and vision of our past leaders, we recognized that PIFFA has been instrumental in influencing the Pacific island nations to marshal efforts and bring focus to conservation and sustainable use of our valuable tuna resources for our long-term, mutual benefit.

The Republic of Palau is also proud and pleased to note that one of its own, the Honorable Victorio Ucherbelau, had ably served once as Director General of PIFFA.

Noting that much is yet to be done, we nevertheless take this time to applaud the successes and accomplishments made so far by PIFFA which have given us hope for a better and more prosperous future of our Pacific island nations through the sustainable exploitation of our fishery resources.

We join all members in wishing the continued progress and success of PIFFA for years to come.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday, PIFFA, on your 30th Anniversary.

Johnson Toribiong
President of the Republic of Palau
